CREEKSIDE CANDY
Nestled on the second floor of the historic Rivertown building in downtown Marlinton, West Virginia, Creekside Candy is a delightful boutique confectionery founded by Lauren Bennett, the director of Pocahontas County Parks and Recreation. What began as a holiday tradition of gifting homemade vanilla buttercreams has blossomed into a charming shop offering an array of handcrafted sweets. Lauren’s signature buttercreams come in flavors like vanilla, chocolate, raspberry, blueberry, coffee, and espresso, with seasonal specialties such as blueberry creams made from locally sourced berries and maple pralines crafted for Maple Days celebrations. She also creates honey pecan nougat and is developing a line of gummy candies whimsically named “Creekside Creatures” .
Creekside Candy is a true family endeavor. When Lauren is occupied with her duties at the Parks and Recreation Department, her daughter Kristen manages the shop, often accompanied by Lauren’s granddaughter Sadie, who adds a touch of charm to the customer experience. The shop’s inviting atmosphere and delectable offerings make it a must-visit destination for both locals and visitors seeking a sweet treat. Open Fridays and Saturdays from 12 to 5 p.m., Creekside Candy invites you to indulge in the handcrafted confections that have become a beloved part of Marlinton’s community.
