MOUNTAIN ECHO SOUVENIRS & GIFTS
Mountain Echo Souvenir and Gift Shop is a family-owned boutique that captures the spirit of Pocahontas County through thoughtfully curated gifts and keepsakes. Situated on the second floor of the historic C.J. Richardson Hardware Store—now revitalized as Rivertown—this charming shop offers a diverse selection of items, including apparel, walking sticks, puzzles, toys, wellness products, and locally inspired souvenirs like stickers, mugs, and postcards. Whether you’re a visitor seeking a memento or a local looking for unique gifts, Mountain Echo provides a welcoming space to explore the beauty and creativity of the region.
Mountain Echo is the realization of a mother-daughter dream. Makinsey Poeppel, a local artist and WVU School of Art & Design graduate, infuses her creative flair into every aspect of the shop, while her mother, Brenda Cochran, brings over 40 years of West Virginia heritage to the venture. Their shared passion for community and the natural beauty of the mountains is evident in the store’s offerings and ambiance. A highlight of the shop is the hand-painted counter, a cherished family heirloom that once graced Brenda’s mother’s store in Cass, now serving as a centerpiece that welcomes customers. Open Thursday through Saturday, Mountain Echo invites you to experience a blend of tradition, artistry, and local charm.
